Pedal Pushers became the newest chapter of AMBUCS, Inc. in February 2014. Partnering with AMBUCS allows Pedal Pushers to provide AmTryke therapeutic tricycles to children and young adults who cannot ride a traditional bicycle. AMBUCS, Inc. is a non-profit service organization “dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities.” We are comprised of occupational and physical therapists, community members, friends and family who have come together to serve the needs of the North Los Angeles County.

 

Children often state that riding a bike is one of their favorite occupations. Unfortunately, it is another milestone that many who have special needs have to skip because they cannot ride a bicycle.  AmTrykes, which can be hand and/or foot operated, are designed to accommodate riders of all sizes and varying degrees of physical abilities. Pedal Pushers holds fundraisers throughout the year to purchase these adapted tricycles for children with special needs in conjunction with their parents, family, friends, and community partners.
